Are you healthy?

Many people define health as “feeling good” or “not being sick.”  According to Webster’s dictionary, health is “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease.”  So when it comes to health, how our bodies are functioning becomes more important than how we are feeling.

Some may believe that a fever is unhealthy.  Although there is an underlying cause that is not healthy, (i.e. invading bacteria or viruses) a fever means your body is functioning as it should when it is fighting these unwelcome organisms. The same goes for symptoms like coughing and vomiting.  The real unhealthy issue would be if our body did not induce fevers, coughing or vomiting when they needed to rid themselves of toxic bacteria or viruses.  Too many times symptoms like these are diagnosed as the problem and are subdued with medications, leading to much more serious complications.  If you keep your body functioning properly with acts like getting specific chiropractic care, your body will be better equipped to naturally combat the pathogens that cause you to become unhealthy.  There are limits to which your body can deal with sickness, but not until then should normal, healthy bodily functions be stopped with medicine.
